Visiting Familiar and Unfamiliar Places (Part IV)

🚗 Road-trips are usually pretty interesting!  I guess the more people you have in the car, the more interesting it may be. I’ve been on road-trips to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Nevada , Mexico, and other parts of Socal and now Ohio. I was pretty sleepy before we got on the road, but I didn’t sleep too much. I am sure, one of the main reasons I didn’t sleep much is because I decided to drink an energy drink when we first got on the road. On the trip up we laughed, enjoyed different types of music, and napped in between. In total it took us about 9 hours total to get to Ohio. We made more than a few stops for one thing or another, on the drive. We arrived to Cincinnati Ohio Thursday evening got to our hotel rooms, got ready for dinner and we went into town. We ended up settling on a restaurant, I’ve never heard before. It was called Cheddar’s.

Cheddar's Entrance

Honestly they didn’t seem to have much on the menu that I could actually eat . The best thing I ate at Cheddar’s was the steamed broccoli! Me & my family enjoyed one another talking, laughing, taking pictures, and just spending time together . It is so nice to spend time with family and put electronic devices away !!!! Connecting with one another in person face to face is priceless !

This beautiful waterfall was at the entrance of Cheddar’s.

Friday seemed to end as quickly as it started ! Is it just me or do days seem to go by faster when on vacation? Friday morning, we got up and went to breakfast at a place called Bob Evans, ever heard of it ? (Click on name for more info) If you are in Ohio it’s a must eat ! Their biscuits were really good ! The food was delicious, better than cheddar’s because there was more options for me ! I love breakfast food ! 🥞

After a delicious breakfast at Bob Evans we traveled to one of the outlets to shop and do some looking around !

The next couple of hours passed by quickly and before we knew it, it was time for the family meet and greet ! This was a fun time for me , I got to reconnect with family I haven’t seen in years and connect with family members I don’t remember ever meeting. We all ate, prayed, laughed and talked ! It was a fun night and by the end of it, I was tired but I still had homework to do. YAY FOR SUMMER CLASSES !!!!  Once I was back at the hotel room,  I believe I watched a little bit of one of my favorite movies of all time, The Lord of  The Rings. I think it was the fellowship of the ring, but I can’t be 100% sure, I was so tired that night.  All I remember seeing is a few of the main characters! As I’m sure you have realized reading this, I was watching a movie and worried about sleep, so yeah I didn’t spend much time on  my homework that night.

Saturday finally arrived and it was the day of  THE FAMILY REUNION !

We arrived at the family reunion in the afternoon and the weather seemed to be  getting pretty hot ! We ate, we took pictures, we laughed, and most importantly we talked and enjoyed one another’s company ! As the day progressed in Ohio, the temperature seemed to cool down enough for me to sit outside, talk with family, and enjoy the weather. I had a good time and laughed a lot on this whole trip! It was good that I got the opportunity to make it to the reunion this year to spend time with family! I was nervous yet thankful to be able to, not only connect with  family  but talk about my book Words Are Art: See The World Through My Eyes .

I have learned while on this journey of being a writer, an author, my work isn’t for everyone and everyone isn’t going to connect with it or even like it. At first this was a struggle to accept, I wanted everyone to like my work. But I realized we are all individuals, we all have our own struggles, our own journey and our own taste of what we like and what we don’t like.

With that being said, I would like to take a moment and  say how thankful I am for all the people with open hearts and open minds, who  purchased & read Words Are Art. When Words Are Art: See The World Through My Eyes was first released I was nervous because I released some of my journey to others. I was afraid of what others may say about some of the intense writings that I decided to put into this book. At first I was pretty self-conscious about it, then as time moved on my goal for releasing something like Words Are Art seemed clearer, inspire & motivate.

I hoped that through my pain, my hurt, my loss, my misery, my depression, and even my discovery of new beautiful things, others could find a way to know that if they were going through some of the same feelings/things they were not alone. Then for others who weren’t going through it, it would give them a new outlook on those things, so they can become more informed.

Releasing Words Are Art let others  get a glimpse into how I see the world, and some of my experiences good and bad. I am so grateful I was able to write this book and for all the people who have told me how inspiring Words Are Art was for them. I hope that my upcoming books can be inspiring, motivating, and so much MORE.

Hello Weekend !!!

So far this weekend things have been a little hectic for me while trying to balance doing school work (final/homework) along with, working on others projects, preparing for my move/college transfer in a few weeks, and participating in the book signing event yesterday. Through all the things going on in my life, I am thankful I am able to just take a minute and just BREATHE. Sometimes we need that. We need to take a moment from our busy day-to-day schedules and just smell the roses, read a book, go to a movie, go for a jog, go to the beach, spend time with loved ones(without electronic devices) , read your bible, pray, or just do something  enjoyable that can free your mind from expectations, to do lists, due dates, etc. I have found this is much easier said than done, most of the time. It’s like no matter what happens in our lives, life keeps going, it’s almost as if there is no room to stop and BREATHE. Honestly we have to make that room because as humans beings we all experience fatigue and overwhelming things at one time or another in our lives. Let’s be honest, it is hard to function at our full capacity when we aren’t well rested and we feel overwhelmed/stressed. So this week and every week remain aware, hold yourself accountable to see if you are taking those moments to BREATHE. Set out that time to do something you enjoy! Something to recharge your mind, body, and spirit!

For me I feel as if I recharge in various ways ! One of my favorite ways to take my moment to BREATHE is by doing something I enjoy, like participating in events where I am able to connect with people.

Book Signing Event 8/5/17

Yesterday I participated in a book signing event ! It was an great experience and I am so thankful I got the opportunity to connect with people and share my work! I also got to give away free e-books to 3 lucky WINNERS !!! As I sat at my table with my books in front of me talking to people as they passed my table I realized something. I realized that at the end of everyday no matter what our occupation is, hobbies, status, beliefs, etc, we are all just people. Imperfect, bad habits, flaws and all, but just people. In today’s time life hits each one of us in different ways and we sometimes become so self-absorbed in our own issues and in ourselves we lose sight of all the beauty around us, along with all the beauty we can create. We can create beauty with a simple smile or hello, or just having a conversation with a stranger about something you may have in common. We have to look outside the box that we sometimes put ourselves in with our beliefs, ideas,or habits, etc and realize that we weren’t put here to live in a box  and only think one way and only see things one way. We were put here to love God & love people with our words, actions, and just everything we have, with everything we are. So many of us are losing sight of this and getting so focused on negativity and in things that DON’T MATTER. Talking and connecting with people yesterday made me just think and analyze things in my own life. It is so important to always keep your eye on your goals, but always keep your why in mind. Always know why you are doing what you are doing. Why are you trying to become an author? Why  are you trying to become a doctor? Why are you trying to become a counselor? Why ? What is your why? In answering the question of your why please keep in mind, money isn’t everything. As I said in my latest book Words Are Art money won’t buy you anything but THINGS. Don’t lose sight of your why. Losing sight of your why may cause you to get caught up in things that DON’T MATTER. Love God & love people let this be your why.

Overall, it was a great experience getting to share my journey and my work with others, and I can’t wait for the next event! I want to say THANK YOU A TON to all the lovely authors & people I got the pleasure of meeting and chatting with! Stay in touch! My memoir release date is coming soon !
