Happy Birthday Mommy !!!🎉☀️

Today is my mommy’s day ! Help me to wish her a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

I  don’t really know where to start when talking about my mom. She has been such a ray of sunshine in my life and we have come so far in our mother/daughter relationship and as a family! Her kind words & her smile has encouraged me more times than I can count. I have told people time and time again if I am unsure about having anyone else’s support in this world, I know for sure I have my mom’s. It took years for me and my mother to establish the close bond that we have today, have you ever heard that saying , GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME ?

Mother Coca-Cola Factory 2017

I have learned a lot about my mother and myself through communicating with her and getting a better understanding of who she is and where she comes from. As much as I don’t like to admit it, because I want to be an “individual.” I can see a lot of my mother in myself, through my looks and some of my personality traits.

Fun Fact: My mom is the youngest of 10 siblings. Yep I have plenty of aunt’s, uncles, & cousins between both my mom and dad. Unfortunately I am closer with my mom, siblings,  and other family on my dad’s side. Family is just family you can’t force them to change or be something they are not. Just love them and pray for change !

Mom and Tasha Coca- Cola Factory 2017

My mother was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her favorite color is blue, but she really likes turquoise, she likes the hulk, she loves roses, she has 5 biological children, and she has a smile that can light up a room & brighten your day. ☀️

My mom moved quite a bit when she was young. Overall, I believe her upbringing, childhood, and life now is a very inspiring story and I am honored to be writing a biography on her life. (will be released 2018).

Fun fact: When I was in high school me & my mom had matching haircuts , and also at one point we both had blonde highlights.

Fun Fact: Me & my mom have a lot of our own inside jokes! A funny thing that we do sometimes is when we call each other we answer the phone using a different voice, and it’s hilarious when she’s like hello, like who is this ! Sometimes she falls for it , other times not so much . haha

As silly as that may sound, I believe life is all about cherishing those silly moment because once people are gone, you can never get those moments back all you will have is memories. So why not make great memories now ?

Over the years my mother and I have not just become closer, she has become my best friend, a person I trust to call me out when I’m “doing too much” and support and compliment me when I am sticking to my morals, pursuing my goals and living by the morals & lessons she has taught me. I love experiencing and sharing my life with her as my mother  and friend. She is such a beautiful person both outside and inside.

My mother even now continues  to be open-minded enough to improve her thinking and understanding on different things and is constantly trying to improve on being a better parent and grandparent. For this, I salute her and love her even more. I don’t think we realize (myself included) how important it is to continue to improve daily, we are all imperfect and have things we should improve on.

Fun fact: In this picture you can see that me and my mother have matching tattoos, I guess in a way you can say I will always carry a piece of my mother with me no matter where I go, and she will always carry a piece of me.

I am very grateful that my mother has taught me to follow my convictions. My mother has also taught me wrong is wrong, and there is no way around it. I continue to learn from my mother and for this I am thankful. I am glad I get the opportunity of having such a courageous, loving, silly, fun, and awesome woman I get to call my mother!

Mom, thank you so very much for all the jokes you’ve told, for your hugs, questions you asked, late night talks, all the words of encouragement you have given me, for your support, for the times you took care of me when I was sick and for the movie/junk food days we’ve had hahah.  Those Oreos! lol

Also thank you for always seeing me as a capable person who can get healing despite how the doctors have labeled me & how I have labeled myself. Know that you are appreciated and loved by God & by all the people who have gotten to know you! You are a ray of sunshine !  Continue to be a listening ear for others, a great-grandmother , mother, friend, and inspiration.

Happy Birthday to you my beautiful mother ! May God continue you to bless you and give you strength to overcome hardships and love unconditionally even when it seems impossible !

Visiting Familiar and Unfamiliar Places (Part IV)

🚗 Road-trips are usually pretty interesting!  I guess the more people you have in the car, the more interesting it may be. I’ve been on road-trips to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Nevada , Mexico, and other parts of Socal and now Ohio. I was pretty sleepy before we got on the road, but I didn’t sleep too much. I am sure, one of the main reasons I didn’t sleep much is because I decided to drink an energy drink when we first got on the road. On the trip up we laughed, enjoyed different types of music, and napped in between. In total it took us about 9 hours total to get to Ohio. We made more than a few stops for one thing or another, on the drive. We arrived to Cincinnati Ohio Thursday evening got to our hotel rooms, got ready for dinner and we went into town. We ended up settling on a restaurant, I’ve never heard before. It was called Cheddar’s.

Cheddar's Entrance

Honestly they didn’t seem to have much on the menu that I could actually eat . The best thing I ate at Cheddar’s was the steamed broccoli! Me & my family enjoyed one another talking, laughing, taking pictures, and just spending time together . It is so nice to spend time with family and put electronic devices away !!!! Connecting with one another in person face to face is priceless !

img_6247-1.jpg

This beautiful waterfall was at the entrance of Cheddar’s.

Friday seemed to end as quickly as it started ! Is it just me or do days seem to go by faster when on vacation? Friday morning, we got up and went to breakfast at a place called Bob Evans, ever heard of it ? (Click on name for more info) If you are in Ohio it’s a must eat ! Their biscuits were really good ! The food was delicious, better than cheddar’s because there was more options for me ! I love breakfast food ! 🥞

After a delicious breakfast at Bob Evans we traveled to one of the outlets to shop and do some looking around !

The next couple of hours passed by quickly and before we knew it, it was time for the family meet and greet ! This was a fun time for me , I got to reconnect with family I haven’t seen in years and connect with family members I don’t remember ever meeting. We all ate, prayed, laughed and talked ! It was a fun night and by the end of it, I was tired but I still had homework to do. YAY FOR SUMMER CLASSES !!!!  Once I was back at the hotel room,  I believe I watched a little bit of one of my favorite movies of all time, The Lord of  The Rings. I think it was the fellowship of the ring, but I can’t be 100% sure, I was so tired that night.  All I remember seeing is a few of the main characters! As I’m sure you have realized reading this, I was watching a movie and worried about sleep, so yeah I didn’t spend much time on  my homework that night.

Saturday finally arrived and it was the day of  THE FAMILY REUNION !

View At Family Reunion 2017 Cincinnati, Ohio

View of Lake at Family Reunion

We arrived at the family reunion in the afternoon and the weather seemed to be  getting pretty hot ! We ate, we took pictures, we laughed, and most importantly we talked and enjoyed one another’s company ! As the day progressed in Ohio, the temperature seemed to cool down enough for me to sit outside, talk with family, and enjoy the weather. I had a good time and laughed a lot on this whole trip! It was good that I got the opportunity to make it to the reunion this year to spend time with family! I was nervous yet thankful to be able to, not only connect with  family  but talk about my book Words Are Art: See The World Through My Eyes .

I have learned while on this journey of being a writer, an author, my work isn’t for everyone and everyone isn’t going to connect with it or even like it. At first this was a struggle to accept, I wanted everyone to like my work. But I realized we are all individuals, we all have our own struggles, our own journey and our own taste of what we like and what we don’t like.

With that being said, I would like to take a moment and  say how thankful I am for all the people with open hearts and open minds, who  purchased & read Words Are Art. When Words Are Art: See The World Through My Eyes was first released I was nervous because I released some of my journey to others. I was afraid of what others may say about some of the intense writings that I decided to put into this book. At first I was pretty self-conscious about it, then as time moved on my goal for releasing something like Words Are Art seemed clearer, inspire & motivate.

I hoped that through my pain, my hurt, my loss, my misery, my depression, and even my discovery of new beautiful things, others could find a way to know that if they were going through some of the same feelings/things they were not alone. Then for others who weren’t going through it, it would give them a new outlook on those things, so they can become more informed.

Releasing Words Are Art let others  get a glimpse into how I see the world, and some of my experiences good and bad. I am so grateful I was able to write this book and for all the people who have told me how inspiring Words Are Art was for them. I hope that my upcoming books can be inspiring, motivating, and so much MORE.

Visiting Familiar and Unfamiliar Places (Part II)

The longer I’m here visiting my family the more I begin to realize how little I actually really know about them and just life in general. I think one of my biggest flaws is thinking I know more than I do based solely off my interpretation of a situation. Silly me. I think a lot of times as humans we do this, some of us more than others. It is really a bad habit in my opinion. Realizing and coming to grip with this flaw has made me realize I have so much to learn and so much I need to be open enough to grow on.

Lately, I have been out and about spending time with family, attending my parent’s church, discovering new shows and eating random junk food. Overall, I am very thankful to be here with family. I’ve already had a few adventures and lack of sleep has seemed to already catch up with me ! I’ve gotten to see my brother who I haven’t seen in about two years, and we stayed up talking until like 4 a.m. knowing we had to be up that morning for church by 10 a.m. ! After I finally did go to bed, after sleeping for 6 hours I woke up and to my horror my voice was hoarse from laughing so much. It was not a good feeling. I could talk for the most part, but I couldn’t sing 🎶 while getting ready for church. 😶 Anyone that knows me knows how much I enjoy singing randomly throughout my day. As the day went on my throat started feeling better and now almost two weeks later, my voice feels pretty much back to normal, thank God. Despite that happening I can still say I definitely miss those long night “family talks.”

As I continue to spend time here on the east coast in this very humid and hot weather with my loved ones, I am sure I will continue to learn and explore new things, meet and spend time with family, see old friends and just enjoy my time here! ❤️☀️🎉✈️

My Grandma & Me – It feels like it has been forever since I got to see my Grammy! It’s always such a pleasure to spend time with her, she loves to giggle and seems to really enjoy people coming to visit her ! ❤️ She will be 91 this November !❤️🎉😍

Does Singing = Health Benefits?

If you read my fun facts about me blog a few weeks back you will already know I like singing very much ! I personally like to use the smule (sing) application (app) . If you’ve never heard of it, it’s basically like in your pocket karaoke. It is available in the istore and google play store both on android and iphone . Inside the app you can sing with others or sing solos, like I usually prefer to do. Time after time while waiting for the music to load up there are fun facts about singing on the screen every few seconds ! I found this pretty cool so why not do research to find more facts/health benefits, I thought ? After doing the research I found health benefits  and facts I never even knew about! I decided to combine the list of facts and health benefits because I figured it would be more interesting that way ! Enjoy & thanks for reading !  Be blessed !!!

Below your will find a list of 7 interesting health benefits & 3 fun facts about singing :

1. Singing is a workout. (Your lungs will get a workout as you employ proper singing techniques and vocal projections.)

2. Singing lowers stress levels. (Making music in any form is relaxing. Singing releases stored muscle tension and decreases the levels of a stress hormone called cortisol in your blood stream.)

3. Singing challenges concentration and attention, especially when techniques such as singing from memory, combining rhythm with action, and mental substitution are used.

4. Singing might be good for your heart. (Singing demands some pretty specific patterns in your breathing. You take bigger, slower breaths, and in the process, your heart rate typically begins to slow.)

5. Singing releases endorphins and oxytocin. (Endorphins are hormones that increase feelings of euphoria and pleasure. Oxytocin levels increase usually when we hug or kiss a loved one. Both these hormones have the power to makes one feel better overall.)

6.  It is said that singing may tone up your facial muscles, your diaphragm, and your intercostal muscles.

7. Singing improves memory. ( Singing requires memorizing and can help to challenge your brain and keep it active as you age.)

8. It is said that when we sing sound comes out of our mouths at about 75mph.

9. More than 100 muscles work together when you sing or speak a single phrase.

10. Singing daily for at least ten minutes is not only said to reduce stress, but it clears sinuses, improves posture and can even help you live longer. (Make this number 8 for health benefits )

For me learning is fun! I had an interesting time researching and putting this list of some fun facts and health benefits of singing together. I am so glad I got to share this with you ! Be sure to check out my cover of the song Touch The Sky by Hillsong United below . I messed up, but oh well I enjoyed singing it !  🎶🎼🎤🎹🎧 Thanks so much for reading ! Be Blessed !!!

Bright Lights, Sunsets and Funnel Cakes

The Fair 2017
The sun was setting. I could see the bright oranges and yellows that made up the sun ☀. The colors  and the placement of the sun in the sky looked so unreal it appeared to resemble a painting. As I continued to pay attention to my surroundings, the fair came into clear view. I could see bright lights coming from the rides. I became memorized and excited by seeing the lights on the rides. I quickly snapped out of it and realized I had been in the car for approximately 10 minutes just waiting to park. Traffic seemed to be backed up. I begin to explore my environment and noticed what seemed to be hundreds of people both going in and leaving the fair. Finally traffic began to move and I was at the front of the line and it was time to pay for parking. Even after paying for parking it took about 5 to 10 minutes until finally, there was a open parking spot. I opened my door and got out of the car and walked for about half a mile to get to the entrance of the fair. As I walked into the fair I was told to smile by a photographer and snap, off went the flash. From that point, I headed into the fair and one of the first things I decided to do was go to the place where they had animals. While viewing animals I pet some goats, saw some cows, 🐄 and even watched a goat being milked. It looked pretty uncomfortable for the animal. 😞  After leaving the place where the animals were I walked around searching for food, and finally decided to get a slice of cheese pizza. A tiny slice of cheese pizza cost me $5.00! Fair food is expensive and some of it is not worth the price. I wanted food so I settled for it ! I continued to walk around and made my mind up that I didn’t want to ride any of the rides due to the price, and I preferred to keep my feet on the ground on this particular night.🎢🎡🎠 Another thing I did was explore the flea market that was set up. Inside the flea market look alike people were doing foot detoxes, giving massages, selling comics, jewelry and everything in between even hotsauce ! I ended up finding a stand that sold hand made soap along with an array of other items. I was really happy to find these soaps, they are great for the skin and don’t have all the extra ingredients store bought soaps have. I bought both moss and aloe vera soap! (find benefits of both soaps below)   The one thing I couldn’t leave the fair without doing was…….. drum roll  🥁 please……. getting a funnel cake! I didn’t eat much of it, but it’s definitely a fair tradition. One of the main points of going to the fair is to get a funnel cake! Right ? Overall despite I was bumped into a lot by others and at some moments I had to take a breather because it was so many people and so much going on, I enjoyed being there. The things I enjoyed most were the music, sounds, lights, food, and just the atmosphere ! I am glad I get the opportunity to share some of my photos & videos with you all ! See below!

Side note: I really love the goat 🐐 video! They were adorable ! Animals melt my heart! 😍🦁🐬🐄🦋🐎🐓Thanks  so much for reading ! Be Blessed !

Visiting Familiar and Unfamiliar Places (Part I)

As I sat in the cushioned chair, I rested my right foot on the metal part of the chair at the bottom and I tucked my left foot under my right thigh. I was officially sitting in my version of Criss Cross Applesauce.  I was in my ready to write position. The computer was in front of me, everything was ready, except my mind. My thoughts began to wander. I realized that by this time next week I would be approximately 2,000 miles across the world, with my family. I guess you could say I was both excited and afraid. Excitement overshadowed the majority of the fear I felt. It had been almost a year since I saw my dad and even longer for other family members. I liked flying, but not trying to get quality sleep in the airplanes tiny seats. I knew that this trip “home” would be very different. I knew this, not only because me and my family were going on a road trip to Ohio, but because quite a bit had changed since the last time I had been “home.” But what was I expecting? Life frequently changes and people do too in various ways, for the better and sometimes for the worse. I’ve seen both happen. But either way I knew I was ready for this trip!

Fast forward 1 week: The day had finally arrived, I was leaving for the next few weeks to travel and be with my immediate and some of my extended family ! I was sitting on the airplane waiting for take off , so I answered a few messages to kill time and a few moments later a name begin to flash on my phone screen📱 , and guess who it was ???? It was my baby sister, calling to talk about us going to mall together and hanging out! Hahahah I really do love and appreciate how much my relationships have grown over the years with my parents and siblings! I am thankful to have such a open & loving family, though we have our faults the most important thing is I know we have each other’s back. Make sure you find a reason to smile today & everyday !🤣😂😘

Happy Thursday all my lovely subscribers ! Stay safe & stay awesome & stay tuned for part II of this series ! ✈️🌃🎉❤️😂😀😎

At the end of the day all that matters is love and memories so make sure you give it and make sure you make them.
